Fellow UU’ers,
The end of the year is quickly approaching. With Christmas falling on a Sunday we have decided not to have a service on Sunday December 25th, so make sure to mark your calendar. We will of course have our Christmas Eve Service on the 24th at 4:30pm so make sure to come by for singing, stories and holiday spirit. Phyllis Tortoro and the “Christmas Eve Elves” have been working hard to ensure that the spirit of Christmas will fill the air.
Special thanks for this month go to Sandy Lewis and the Buildings and Ground Committee for the fall clean up. I understand that we had one of the largest turnouts we have had in recent years, if not ever. With about 30 people showing up to help clean, rake, make minor repairs and move major gravel. It just goes to show that many hands make light work. I’m sure that if you are still interested in working around the building, Sandy has a list of things that can be done.
Thank you Sandy for making sure that this vital task was planned, organized and executed. And thanks to the Buildings and Ground Committee for the hard work that you did to make sure that our Building looks good and stays maintained.
I also want to acknowledge Janice Routolo and her efforts with the book table. She has gone through the boxes of books and inventoried everything that we have. It seems we have quite a bookstore in those boxes. Be sure to keep an eye out for special promotions and discount prices of some of the overstock. There is quite a bit of great reading material at that little table that Janice is setting up during the coffee hours.
The Board of Trustees is in the process of writing and approving a Newsletter Policy and we found that one of the key ingredients to establishing and enforcing a policy is to find an editor. The job would not entail the actual production of the newsletter, Joanna would continue to do that. You would not need to check for spelling or grammatical errors nor rewrite any submissions. The editor would just be making sure that submissions are on time, the right length and fall within the guidelines of the Policy. If you are interested or would like to find out more about this coveted position please see me or any of the other Trustees.
Finally as the year comes to a close I want to wish all of you a happy and safe Holiday Season. May you have much to give thanks for and whatever Holiday you celebrate I hope that it is memorable and joyful and that you smile with the memories of 2005 and the possibilities of 2006.
Thanks again to all of you for what you do to make this Fellowship what it is.
Be Safe
David Morkal
