End Times. Are we living in them? Is the Apocalypse now? With so much devastation around us, natural and otherwise, the “end of the world” prophets abound. Could they be right? If so, why would those on the “religious right” be so intent on forcing religious creationism or the theory of “intelligent design” into our classrooms? (I’ll speak to that issue.) The end is near. Why bother? More Americans believe in the virgin birth, than the theory of evolution. And the “end of the world is at hand” preachers are beating the drums. What is an “enlightened” rational person to do?
