On this Memorial Day weekend come and explore the origins and meaning of the Memorial Day holiday. The elements of the program will consist of discussion among those attending. In addition to discussion, contributions to the program will be welcome, such as short readings, poems, personal recollections, and beliefs about the past, present, and future of this holiday. Not only are we interested in your personal feelings, but we hope to recognize and remember the nobility of the individuals who volunteered and gave their lives for a cause they believed in rather than to conduct a political analysis of the battles in which they fought. Using the men and women of these wars as examples, can attendees think of causes, patriotic, religious, or social to which we are willing to make more than a checkbook commitment? In order to make this program most meaningful, we need to have those attending contribute.
Then remain after the service to participate in our annual Sustainable Pot Luck Lunch. (Sign up sheets for contributions to lunch will be available after services on preceding Sundays.)
One service only at 11 am.
