UUBCO Community Circles

What Are Community Circles?

Community Circles are small groups that offer a way for friends and members of the Fellowship to develop deeper connections and wider service within the fellowship community and beyond.

Why Do We Offer Community Circles In Our Fellowship?

So people can connect on a more intimate level by addressing openly the deeper questions of life and the search for human meaning. The groups build upon our Sunday morning experience and other fellowship activity and strengthen the relationships of members and friends of the congregation. Groups are open to nonmembers.

Tell Me More About These Groups!

The primary emphasis of Community Circles is to care for one another–to serve each other, to encourage us to spiritual growth and meet our needs for affirmation and acceptance. By creating an open, supportive and nurturing environment, Community Circles promote and facilitate spiritual growth and mutual interactive care for one another, therefore providing a quality of caring that most people can only wish for. Members are also encouraged to reach out beyond the group to serve those in need in the larger community.

How Are The Groups Run?

  • The groups will meet a minimum of once a month for 2 hours in the facilitator’s home or a member’s home.
  • All groups have trained facilitators, use a regular format, and agree on how they will relate to each other and how they will serve the congregation.
  • Groups consist of up to ten members.
  • The regular format of the group will be: an opening reading, check-in, discussion topic of interest to the group, closing words, closing reading.
  • Discussion topics will be chosen by the facilitator or by consensus of group members with the goal of encouraging members to connect at a deeper level.
